Georgia Ellis shares her Top Tips to Maintain A Healthy, Balanced Lifestyle on a Busy Schedule.
My final teaching placement is only a few weeks away, I am starting to organise and prepare myself for a very busy 6 weeks! You may be wondering what that means for my healthy, balanced and active lifestyle? I am here to give you my tips to possibly become both the busiest and the healthiest version of yourself during this time. I know this is always easier said than done but implement these few little tips and your mind and body will thank you later!
1. Preparation and Organisation
Having a lot on your mind can be mentally and physically draining and trying to keep track of everything is quite stressful. I want to make sure I am feeling confident and excited about what is to come over the next 6 weeks. My top tip for preparing and staying organised is creating a to do list. I create daily and weekly to do lists using the notes app on my phone, ticking off things once I have accomplished them. This way I’m not relying on myself to remember everything!
2. Eat Foods That are Going to Nourish Your body and Give You the Vital Nutrients to Thrive Throughout the Day
I usually spend Sunday afternoons cooking up a bunch of baked veggies and protein sources to keep in the fridge for the week. Sometimes this isn’t always possible, but it’s important to have healthy and convenient meals handy that are still going to nourish your body. Packaged foods are great but can sometimes be full of unnecessary ingredients. This is why I am loving the new products from Eimele! Their range of plant-based porridges, soups and snack bars are full of real, wholesome ingredients that are still going to provide me with enough protein and fibre to keep me going throughout the day. They also only take a few minutes to whip up in the microwave. Pop a porridge sachet, soup sachet and a snack bar into your bag and you are sorted for your day! If you have the time, why not boost up these meals and get some extra nutrients by adding a little bit of yogurt and fruit to your porridge and some protein and nuts to the soups!
3. Move Your Body But Don’t Overdo It
If you follow me on Instagram you would see that most days I start my day with a workout. I love moving my body first thing each morning. I find this sets me up to have a positive day. Ideally, I like to work out at least 4-5 times a week, but this isn’t always the case during a busy week. I will often choose to workout at home instead of going to the gym. I have a few home workouts here if you are interested in giving them a go and saving yourself some time! It’s important not to overdo it, listen to your body and rest when you need it!
4. Get Enough Sleep and Make Time For Yourself
Sleep is just as important to your overall health as eating well and exercising regularly. I know it may sound like a good idea to stay up late and get everything done. But, if you continue to do this you may fall into an unwanted sleep pattern that could affect your moods and the way your body functions throughout the day. I know that busy weeks can be stressful but it is important to get enough sleep each night and also make time for yourself. Try to shut off your phone at least half an hour before bed, turn on a candle or diffuse some lavender essential oils. Having this quiet time by yourself will help you wind down and relax before heading to sleep.
5. Stay Positive
Although I find these weeks stressful and sometimes overwhelming, I absolutely love them. I wouldn’t be where I am today without having a busy schedule. Rather than seeing my placement or any busy week as something that has to be done, I make the most of my time and take every day as it comes. It’s the only way to reach your goals!
I hope these tips and tricks will help you get through your busy schedule. Remember, be organised and don’t stress, stay positive and have fun!
